In 1977 Charles Wu founded KMC with only a few pieces of used machinery. KMC was the world's smallest chain factory at the time but Charles believed that with continued dedication and a drive for perfection, they would become the world's largest chain supplier.

Over four decades, KMC has been focused on designing and developing chains for different types of bikes based on the needs and preferences of end users.
